Joan Miller
DVM, MA, LPCC-S, NCC, RPT-S
Joan Miller came to counseling after a successful career
as a small animal veterinarian. She felt a calling to counseling
and returned to graduate school graduating in 2004 with a degree
in Professional Counseling and Advanced Graduate Studies in Clinical
Counseling and Trauma, Neglect and Deprivation from Ottawa University in Phoenix, AZ.
She is married with 3 children (biological and adopted) and has a special passion for adopted children who suffer from attachment and trauma issues. She also loves providing parent support for adoptive families and brings special understanding as she is an adoptive parent herself. She has a saying "If I lose Mom, I lose everybody." Adoptive parents often feel isolated and not understood and Joan 'gets it' and provides hope and practical support.
Joan also cares for adults as they navigate life challenges, including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss (including pet loss), and family conflicts. Additionally, as a person of faith, she has a unique ability to also assist clients who desire specifically Christian counseling.
She is a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), Kentucky Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPCC-S), Association of Play Therapy Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor(RPT-S, and member of the Kentucky Counseling Association and American Association of Christian Counselors.
Joan grew up in the Southwest and enjoys the desert, the sun, and plants. She also has a great love of all animals, but especially her new Basset Hound, Cornelius (Therapy Dog in Training), The Provision's bunny, Panda, and her office turtles, Squirt and Albert.
**Joan currently has a waiting list with minimal opportunities for openings. If you were referred to Joan, please contact our offices to determine if she can put you on her schedule in the upcoming weeks or if you would prefer to be placed with one of our other excellent counselors.**
